Fertomid is used to stimulate ovulation (the production of eggs). It enhances the likelihood of pregnancy in women experiencing difficulties in conceiving. Its mechanism is similar to estrogen, a female hormone that promotes the growth and release of eggs from the ovaries. Typically, it is administered once daily for 5 days, beginning on the fifth day of the menstrual cycle. Women who do not have regular menstrual cycles may start taking it on any suitable day. Be sure to adhere closely to the instructions on your prescription label, and consult your doctor if anything is unclear. Take Fertomid precisely as instructed. Do not exceed or reduce the dosage prescribed by your physician.
Fertomid may have side effects. Inform your doctor if any of the following side effects are severe or persist: flushing, upset stomach, nausea, swollen ovaries, headaches, irregular vaginal bleeding, abdominal discomfort.
Before using Fertomid: Notify your doctor if you have any allergies to Fertomid or any other drugs. Provide your doctor with a list of medications you are currently taking. Inform your doctor if you have a history of abnormal vaginal bleeding, liver issues, uterine fibroids, a pituitary tumor, adrenal disorders, or thyroid or ovarian cysts. Also, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while on Fertomid, contact your doctor right away.
Fertomid may cause blurred vision. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you understand how this medication affects you.
Fertomid increases the risk of multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets, etc.). Speak with your doctor about the potential risks associated with multiple pregnancies.
